Here we go again – Whatsapp status – hoax message

It seems that Whatsapp are having a few problems today – as their account on twitter called Whatsapp status suggests

WhatsApp status functionality is currently not available. We are working on resolving it soon-ish…

So on the band wagon the spammers jump…… they changed a recent hoax to be applicable the status problems –  It explains this is why your Status and everyone elses says  - error – Status unavailable. This is to scam you into forwarding. 

The first clue we have that this is fake is the message says from summer 2012 whatsapp will start charging.  Are they charging ? 
Also have a look on Whatsapps Blog -March 2012 -They already said it was a hoax.

Before you read this, go to your contacts and look at everyones status! Should say error: status unavailable.Hello everyone, it seems that all the warnings were real, the use of WhatsApp cost money from summer 2012.
If you send this string to 18 different on your list, your icon will be blue and will be free for you.
If you do not believe me see tomorrow at 6 pm ending WhatsApp and have to pay to open it, this is by law
This message is to inform all of our users, our servers have recently been very congested, so we are asking your help to solve this problem. We require our active users forwarded this message to each of the people in your contact list to confirm our active users using WhatsApp, if you do not send this message to all your contacts WhatsApp, then your account will remain inactive with the consequence of losing all their contactsMessage from Jim Balsamic (CEO of Whatsapp) we have had an over usage of user names on whatsapp Messenger. We are requesting all users to forward this message to their entire contact list. If you do not forward this message, we will take it as your account is invalid and it will be deleted within the next 48 hours. Please DO NOT ignore this message or whatsapp will no longer recognise your activation. If you wish to re-activate your account
after it has been deleted, a charge of 25.00 will be added to your monthly bill.

WhatsApp is going to cost us money soon. The only way that it will stay free
is if you are a frequent user i.e. you have at least 10 people you are
chatting with. To become a frequent user send this message to 10 people
who receive it (2 ticks) and your WhatsApp logo should turn Red to
indicate a frequent user. Am sorry had no option!
And check now the status of every individual contact is showing :
Status : error
It looks exactly like all the other hoaxes, we’ve had the same thing on Msn, Hotmail, on Twitter, on Facebook and probably Myspace, but yet so many people are spreading it, Twitter is on fire with complaints of people forwarding the spam, which is all it is really just spam.
So …… you get the gist, the its fake, don’t do it ….. its just annoying the hell out of everyone.

What does 1GB data allowance mean – Mobile

What is data allowance

I hate being restricted to how much mobile data allowance I have – you are never sure how  much you you are using.  Thats why if I can, I will always go for unlimited, or as Three.uk call it  All-you-can-eat-data when sorting out my tariffs.

When going on holiday people are always asking me – how long can I go on the internet for if I only have so much data allowance per day – the trouble is it doesn’t really work that way – it depends what you are doing.

Orange now have an app to help you with holiday useage called Travel Angel – on iTunes – I haven’t tested it yet, and to be honest it doesn’t have good reviews but it looks to be perfect for setting up holiday packages and keeping an eye on data usage – more about that later.

Three uk know that people are very confused about how much data certain websites or operations use, so they have created this infographic to show the difference between All-you-can-eat-data and 1GB data allowance.  I love this and it makes it all very clear, hopefully to you too.

What is All-You-Can-Eat-Data

The funny thing is about unlimited or All you can eat is that its not really unlimited – there is always some limit and on Three UK  this is based on what they say your smartphone can handle which is about 1000GB per month, so that is huge!

Additionally – Three actually have some amazing tariff deals on the apple iphone 5 32gb at the moment which looks like you get a free phone too – I have to wait though unless I buy out of my contract – besides lightning doesn’t make me happy – I’d need to get loads of adapters. So I’ll be sticking with my Iphone 4s and my iPad 2 for a while.
