Facebook message about Spam

After a recent AVG update I noticed that when I was posting a link on Facebook, occasionally this message came up…..

You appear to be using a browser plug-in that attaches spam to your Facebook posts. To complete your post, please remove this browser plug-in or switch to a different computer.

For more information, please see the Help Centre.

This is all due to AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 2011

to stop this ….

1)  Open AVG Anti-Virus  –  Click Components on the top bar next to file.

2) Click Linkscanner – and then Tools/Advanced Settings.

3) Uncheck – Add ‘Secured by LinkScanner’ to any send Facebook or MySpace message checked by LinkScanner

Hope this helped 🙂

So FaceBook don't like it when you point out to other users which of your updates are virus free?? Nice……

  • Michelle

well yeah at first, there was a message from avg saying that your post was virus free, and then this message that wouldn't let you post at all.

Just wanted to say thanks for posting this… saved me a lot of fiddling around.

Would have thought AVG would have tested a feature that applies to a network of over 500 million potential customers.

    Anyway… thanks you.

Awesome. Thank you for posting this. I had noticed the message had been coming up on the FB posts (I actually found it annoying, as I put numerous articles up on my newspaper's facebook page and the message kinda cluttered things up), but didn't connect it to why I was suddenly becoming blocked. I Googled the phrase and found your blog entry, and was able to get back to posting right away. Thanks again!

I'm very glad to have helped, anonymous and Laurie, thanks for letting me know 🙂
